I wrote this article because I've spent the last 9 months working on a MTX game, called 8Realms, and the last few weeks have been intensive monetisation design, and discussion so it was on my mind a lot.

Having said that I was watching the CCP storm, I have a few friends who work there, and other goings on with interest because I have a lot to say on the topic. Most of which I can't say because it's all NDA or not publicly released yet. It's a fascinating challenge trying to innovate in the social & MTX space and not be another me-too Facebook style product.

I'm curious, did you write this article in response to the recent meltdown in EVE or is your terminology (Greed is NOT good) just a coincidence?

Great article.

Sadly many times its not a choice. While you may not be contracted or forced into there exists an unspoken requirement for it. In recent projects I was lead and had accountability.

So when poor decisions or unrealistic demands were made of the team then you either need to fight and oppose the source of these demands (sometimes impossible, other times at risk of employment) or just find some way of addressing them.

I'm hoping my new job doesn't demand too much overtime either - I have been telling you for a long time to just not do it! Glad you're finally in a happy place though :-) Love the choice of picture though!

Again the documentation takes you through most the quirks, and of course its easier to find quirks the more systems you've worked with because you get much better at spotting quirks.

This is a good page though

Also I've pretty much stopped googling stuff with rare exceptions and just going straight to the docs.

I've been tinkering with Unity for the past week or so. I find it very interesting, though frustrating at times. You wouldn't happened to have found a good Quirks website, have you? I find that I spend half my time googling things and wasting my time sorting through crap.
